[Berlin-wireless] Google Summer of Code with Freifunk

I'm interested in participate of GSoC 2009 with Freifunk with the
project "multiple clients using one device to connect multiple
infrastructure networks" [1]
I have some questions about that project:

What kind of device is the one? Any wireless chip?

The project is against Freifunk Firmware?

Do you have more information about that project?
