Ich hatte vor einer Weile ein Board, das auf der RS232 mit 2,5V arbeitete, ich glaube, das
war ein TL-741ND (Atheros AR7240). Schien aber zum Glück 3.3V tolerant zu sein. Man mußte nur 
den Spannungsteiler an Rx entfernen:
