sig0namectl
is a project designed to allow participants of Freifunk (&
other community networks) to directly publish and update their own
information and services into the fabric of the community's Domain
Name System (DNS) to securely and reliably share with all other
network participants.

It leverages the Internet standards of DNSSEC and secure SIG(0)
DNS updates to achieve this in a reliable and scalable way.

The proposal was workshopped at last year's Chaos Computer Camp
in the Bits & Bäume village and has since gained some
development funding support from the Prototype Fund.

We are calling for discussion, feedback and involvement from all
interested Freifunk participants, from Freifunk users to Freifunk
router maintainers.

We will briefly:

- present a brief introduction of the benefits of DNSSEC

- present a status & summary of freifunk.net DNSSEC
deployment so far

- demonstrate how sig0namectl is being developed for use by both
Freifunk users and Freifunk routers themselves

- announce a trial deployment of sig0namectl's secure dynamic
DNSSEC updates within beta.freifunk.net

- call for feedback, questions, discussions and outline future
evil plans

Hope to see you there and look forward to your feedback!
